Healing tab is going to be our first thing to look at when we want to judge a healer. So obviously, start from basics of the job.

Rule of judging healing #1: effective healing you see by default is irrelevant and your healing parse is irrelevant too while taken alone and out of context.

What we do want to look at, in general case, is overheal and its consistency, because: Healing - healing taken in by people until health is full Overhealing - actual healing numbers outputted by the skill Hence, overheal is the actual representation of how a healer is performing, because it shows their net output. To do that, find “Overheal” on the right side just below general tabs, and click on it so it becomes underlined.

Our next step will be selecting a person we want to evaluate either on graph like this (remember to unselect “Total”) or choosing from droplist of “Friendlies”:

So what do we want to see is graph like this:

It will have natural drops and spikes, due to windows when we use a spam ability and when we just let our hots tick. Ideally it should not have very rapid spikes like here on example around 1 min - but everyone makes mistakes, and its important that amount of those mistakes is minimal. Graph helps us easily spot them.

So now lets talk about actual numbers: they will differ depending on how many healing overtime abilitites you have. It also implies that you have Combat Prayer slotted by default and use if frequently but not at the cost of your HoTs.

Normally, if you’re duo healing you both have:

Illustrious Healing + Energy Orb + class HoT + Combat Prayer + Overflowing Altar on one of the healers

A little exception here: Necro and Sorc as their class HoTs are significantly weaker compared to other classes, so they might be skipped. Of course it is possible to slot more healing like Echoing Vigor or Radiating Regeneration on any class depending on situation.

If you’re solo healing, you will most definitely have:

Illustrious Healing + Energy Orb + Combat Prayer + Overflowing Altar + class HoT (if applicable) + Echoing Vigor/Radiating regeneration (if needed).

Value of one’s average “overheal number” is listed below in a group list like this if you selected a person on a graph:

Or, if you selected a person in “Friendlies” you will see detailed analysis of healing done by each ability used. You will get the same if you just click on person in a group list which is shown above.

Typical “overheal” value people like to use as “acceptable” which allows to duo-healer complete almost all available content is 60k overheal. This usually means a person is capable of keeping up HoTs while doing occasional bursts. But I still want to give more context for different classes and situations.

If you’re on a class which has a potent class HoT like Templar/Warden/Nightblade, you’re expected to have higher raw healing than classes without proper class HoT like Sorc and Cro. So, reaching this stereotypical 60k if harder. By harder I mean 10-15k extra raw healing for Plar/Den/Blade instead of 5k extra raw healing for Sorc/Cro if they use Power Surge/Braided Tether or 0 if they don’t use mentioned skills. Even tho I used the word “harder” it does not mean hard and any class can reach 60k without putting it too much effort. As you see from above, a Sorc can easily do 80k raw healing too. Warden/Plar/Blade easily reach 100k+ if they cast non stop.

However, this game is not about parsing HPS, and what is important, is that we don’t see dips below 40-50k on a graph, and it mostly doesn’t matter how high we peak as long as healing is consistently there. If you see regular dips below 40-50k consider more detailed analysis of casts to see if person is maintaining HoTs. See more information in casts-and-cpm

Mind that all listed numbers are true for U34, but they might change in U35 slightly.

Now lets return back to list of abilities and look closer. To do that we have to click on a group member we want to look at in the group list under the graph in Healing tab or select him from dropdown list of “Friendlies” on top left. Normally, the order of abilities will look like that:

In fights where people take constant high ambient damage like AG Illustrious and Prayer can be swapped:

Note that numbers on screenshots are NOT exemplary, and can vary. What is meant to be shown is order of abilities from most healing to least healing.

Normal and expected order of healing done by abilities is:

  1. Illustrious Healing
  2. Combat Prayer 3-4) Extended Ritual/Budding Seeds (total HoT+ burst part)/Refreshing Path+ Energy Orb
  3. Minor Lifesteal from Overflowing Altar
  4. Braided Tether/Power Surge/Enchanted Growth

If healer is using Radiating Regeneration it can be anywhere between 3d and 6th position normally, due to being a “filler” skill. If its on first or second place, its an alert that healer does not prioritize correct skills

If healer is using Reviving Barrier its position will depend on number of casts and fight length and can be anywhere. I recommend to substract raw healing numbers of Reviving barrier from total number and ignore its position, as it inflates healing numbers a lot and isn’t useful for judging healer’s ability.

If HoTs are 2-3 positions lower than they should be, it means wrong prioritization, and probably is reflected in raw healing numbers aswell.

And as a summary, I want to add: There will be fights where you need lots of healing and lots of healing abilities, and there will be fights where you do not need that much because group is simply not taking damage. So do not use 60k or any other number as a “must have” judgment stick without looking at context of fight, class and ability choice. Some fights will be fine with 40k, and some will be much more comfortable with 80k+. All those numbers are doable by ordinary humans on any class, so think well before judging. What matters is correct prioritization of skills, and consistency of casts, which hopefully will be easier to see now from graphs and ability list.
